As a characters designer I think that, although it is very difficult at the beginning for the love that the author has to the original designs, sometimes a radical change is necessary. And in most cases it’s for the best!
I suffered it several times. The characters must adapt to what the story requires and not the other way round. If the characters dominate the story it becomes much more difficult to create something consistent.
On the other hand, his appearance seems much more interesting to me, and the aquatic touch gives even more variety to the Hazbin Hotel group.
The clothes are awesome and I always love the green water color so that’s a 10 for me~
